Play Date!

Baby Darryl loves playing with his friends! Yesterday, I took the afternoon off work and took Darryl over to play with Lincoln Scott. It was the first time that I got to see Darryl around another baby close to his age (Lincoln is exactly one month older then Darryl). At first, they didn't really even know that the other one was on the blanket next to them, but once they noticed each other it was so much fun! They cooed back and forth and kept hitting each other with their hands. At one point, Lincoln hit Darryl in the face and not even a second later Darryl hit him right back (boys will be boys....:)) It was so funny! They would even have sweet moments where they would hold hands... Instant friendship!

I got to spend a lot of time with Darryl this week which was such a blessing. Going back to work has been fun but also pretty hard. On Monday, I went to Chris's aunt's house to study for my talk that I was giving on Wednesday. At lunch, Chris and Darryl came and visited and we had so much fun! It was the best, most relaxing day!Darryl loves getting to talk to his Grandma and Grandpa on webcam! He loves to lay on his tummy and stare at them on the computer. Grandma loves to sing to him and even plays with toys on the computer as he watches. It is so sweet! Darryl is so excited because he will get to see her this weekend!

Darryl also got to stay the night at his Grandma Kim's house again and this time he slept through the night for her! He has done this at home for more then a week straight but I wasn't sure if he would do it somewhere else...but he did!! Such a big boy! Kim bought him this adorable cow outfit!

Not a whole lot else has been going on! Darryl is talking like crazy and still quite the mover! He still hasn't rolled from his back to his front but I think it will be any day now. Chris and I are having a blast being parents. We had no idea that it could be this fun. We love you so much Darryl. Oh! You just pooped so I better go! :)

Whoo hoo!!

Darryl has slept through the night all week!!! Chris and I are like all new people! Getting sleep is a great thing!!! We are keeping our fingers crossed that its not just a phase... He is consistently sleeping from 10:30 p.m. to close to 7 a.m.! And he is so much fun when we wakes up... he has been waking up so happy and giggly.

Darryl is also getting really good at laying on his tummy and lifting his head up really high! It is soo cute. Tonight we got on the web cam with my parents and we put the camera right in front of him and he picked up his head and stared right at it. It was soooo cute! I am constantly amazed by how blessed we are to have him and how blessed we are that he is so healthy and happy.

Today he got SO close to rolling from his back to his tummy! I had him on the living room floor with the TV behind him and he was twisting around trying to watch Deal or No Deal. He got really close but then got tired and gave up. I think it might happen soon though! He also played a fun game today... I had him on my bed while I was folding laundry. He was on his tummy and he would keep lifting his head really high and then throwing it to the side, causing him to flip over really fast. At first I thought it was going to scare him, but he would smile every time and wait for me to put him back on his tummy so he could do it again.

I love him!!! Part of me wants him to get older so I can see what kind of man he becomes but right now I just want him to stay just like this forever!!!

Fun with a rocking chair

Thursday morning I had a meeting at 8:30 a.m. at a nearby place so I got to be home for after Darryl's morning bottle (which personally, is my favorite because he is SOO awake and fun afterwards!)

Once I was dressed, I went into his room where Chris had just finished giving Darryl his bottle. Chris put him on the little ottomon that goes with the glider to change his diaper. Once his diaper is changed, Darryl loves to lay on his back and kick his legs. But this time, Darryl discovered a new game!

Chris was sitting in the chair and Darryl started kicking toward him. When he did this he kicked the bottom of the chair, causing the ottoman he was laying on to rock slightly backwards. At first his face got REALLY big but then he realized how much fun this new game could be. For the next 15 minutes he repeatedly kicked the chair, rocked himself back, and laughed like crazy (well... he is trying really hard to laugh...right now its a bunch of cooing followed by some coughing because he can't catch his breath!) Chris and I just watched and cracked up. He is so much fun!!!

In other news-Darryl slept through the night again! Actually...the last two nights in a row he slept more then 6 hours at a stretch. Thursday night he stayed the night with his grandma Kim and he slept from 11p.m. to 5 a.m. and last night he was back with us and slept from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.! Could this be a permanent pattern?? We shall see... :)

Here are a few more pics!

9 Weeks Old!

Tomorrow Darryl will be a whopping 9 weeks old! On Wednesday, we went to his two month check up and he weighed 9 pounds 14 ounces (10th percentile) and was 23 inches long (25th percentile!) Darryl always loves seeing his favorite Dr. Willie, and he laughed and smiled the whole appointment...well...until he got two shots. Chris helped hold Darryl down while I huddled in the corner and looked away. He was very brave though! Luckily, he pretty much forgot that anything had happend after a few minutes.
Darryl is still quite the mover! A few weeks ago, we bought a wedge to keep in his crib to help keep him from flipping over when he sleeps (he sleeps on his tummy). Well one time we went in and he was scooting across his crib DRAGGING the wedge with him! Recently, he has been flipping over the side of the wedge back on to his tummy. Last night, he had escaped the wedge, turned diagnol, scooted to the other side of the crib, and started crying because he was hitting his head against the edge. Its pretty funny, but I bet he would be sleeping through the night more if he wasn't so mobile! He is going to be crazy to keep up with when he's big thats for sure..
We had a fun weekend! Chris and I got to be home with him a lot and we had a lot of fun. We got him this little car mat for him to play on and he loves it. It is so much to watch him grow! He is lifting his head up more and more, he is so close to laughing when he is awake, and he recently discovered his thumb! I caught him sucking on it on our way to the church nursery. Chris and I have been really tired but we are so blessed by the friends and family who have helped watch him so we can take naps.
Here are some pics from this past weekend!

So much has been going on!

Things have been pretty busy the last couple weeks! Here are some highlights...

1. I went back to work! It was really hard because I missed him so much but things have been going really smoothly. Darryl comes and spends some time with me at the office so that helps alot. Chris has been so amazing with him at home and sends me lots of videos and photos right when I need it most. Baby Darryl has a pretty busy schedule though! Here is a typical day in the lives of the Wehunts...

6:30 a.m. I get up and if Darryl isn't awake yet, I jump in the shower and start getting ready for work.

7:30 a.m. Darryl usually wakes up, Chris gets him and starts feeding him while I wash bottles and get his bag ready.

8 a.m. I head to work

9:30 a.m. Chris brings Darryl up to work so he can head to class

11:15 p.m. I head home for lunch and to take Darryl back to the house to be with Chris

12:30 p.m. I head back to work

4 p.m. Chris brings Darryl back up to the office, Chris goes to work

5 p.m. I feed Darryl and let him play while I finish up some things, then I take him home (or to whoever's house we visit that night)

8:30 p.m. I give Darryl a bath, get him ready for bed, put him down to sleep. Wash bottles, pick up the house if I'm home, relax a little

10:30 p.m. Chris gets home, we feed Darryl one more time, go to bed

Whew! I get tired just typing all of that! But so far things are going well. We just take it one week at a time and really treasure weekends and Tuesday nights when we all get to be together.

2. Darryl has been loved on my so many people! Ann Smith watches him on Tuesdays and we often go to their house in the evenings while Chris is at work. We are so blessed to have them in our lives. Ann and Willie have both patiently answered all my questions and they love Darryl so much! Ann, Amy Wood, and Kim Barnes even surprised me and decorated our house while I was at work one day! They rearranged the furniture, hung things on the walls, and even bought some lamps and candles! I couldn't believe it! It has definately been way more fun to be at home since they made it feel so much more inviting!

Darryl has also had lots of time with his Grandma Kim, Grandpa Darryl, Mimi Vickie and Grandpa James. We had a lot of family in town this weekend and Darryl did really great. He was so cute! I'll post a lot more pics of that soon...
3. Darryl celebrated his 2 month birthday yesterday!! And how did he celebrate? BY SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! It was so exciting! We fed him and put him to bed around 10:30 p.m. and he didn't wake up until 6:15 a.m.!! Thats more then 7 hours of sleep! And he didn't eat until 7:15 a.m.! I was so excited! I woke up, looked at the clock, and then it took me a few minutes to fully realize that I hadn't fed him during the night! I was so excited! We celebrated but then he spent the rest of the morning in a really bad mood. Sorry Daddy!! We'll see what happens tonight.... :)

So much more has happend but I gotta go! Will post more soon.... I'll leave you with a pick of Darryl in his dresser drawer...we just took that for fun! :)

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! We had a great weekend full of family. Darryl had fun with all of his family, plus he loved his cute outfit!!!
