One of those moments...

Tonight I had one of those moments where I wish time was frozen and I never want Darryl to grow up. We went to a graduation tonight and he fell asleep on the way home. When I laid him down to change him he woke up and immediately started smiling. I leaned over and put my face right abovet his and he smiled and starting "talking" to me.
We talked for a while and then he slowly reached up with his hands and started feeling my face while laughing and talking. It was the sweetest moment and I never wanted it to end.

To top it off, as I was feeding him his bottle tonight he stopped, mid sip, to start smiling and laughing at me. My heart melted.

I never knew I could love something this much.

Wow...time has flown by!

Today was one of those days when it really hit me that time was flying by so fast. I was in the kitchen washing bottles this morning while Darryl was taking a nap and I couldn't believe how normal everything felt...when Darryl first came it seemed like life was in chaos. I wondered if I would ever feel like my normal self again and not a crazy new mom who didn't know what she was doing. But Darryl, God is so good and He has taught me so much through you. I am humbled every day by how blessed I am to have you in my life.

I feel like I say this every blog post but you are getting so big! You have really started to interact with people and with your toys. You love peek-a-boo and often giggle when we play. It is the sweetest sound in the world! Last night you were entertaining the whole room as Roger Fite talked to you in his donald duck voice at dinner. You were cracking up and it was so sweet! Everyone wanted to hold you. I'll post pics soon.

You are also grabbing your toys really well! I love holding your monkey in front of you and you will look at it with this really concentrated face before you grab it and hold onto it (and normally you immediately put it in your mouth :).
One of your favorite things to do now is to "stand up". We are getting really good arm muscles from holding you up where you feel like your standing. Today, Chris and I put you in your walker for the first time and you loved it! I couldn't believe how big you looked in it and how much you played with the toys that are attached to it. We let you wheel around in the kitchen and at one point you just stopped and laughed because you saw your reflection in the stove. That sound alone can melt my heart.

One of my favorite things is to drive you around in my car. We put a mirror on the backseat so that we can see you and so you can see yourself. You LOVE it. I love driving around town listening to you talk to yourself and then seeing that sweet face in the mirror. You love to talk to everyone. Especiallly any of the Smiths, you looovvvvee them! At Courtney's graduation party you got passed around, but truly smiled when you were in the arms of your Ann or your Courtney. It was really sweet!

You are so amazing!! More to come!

Mothers Day Weekend

We have had an eventful and fun Mother's Day Weekend! Thursday, Mom flew into town and stayed a couple of days with us. She had so much fun playing with baby Darryl! He was all smiles and even laughed at the owl toy that she was playing with! It was so adorable. Everytime she would pull the string to make it vibrate he would crack up. He's not quite full on belly laughing yet, but he definately has a cute little giggle going on! I can't wait to hear his first big true laugh! I wonder what it will sound like....maybe we will get to see this week... His great grandma Thelma got to come in today and he just laughed and played with her all day!

Another thing we think we will see this week is Darryl turn over from his back to his tummy. He got SO close tonight! He was chewing on his owl toy (can you see a pattern? It's definately his favorite toy... thank you Rigdons!) and I took it from him and sat it a little ways away. I was over at his grandma Kim's house and we watched as he twisted and turned and tried to roll over again and again for 30 minutes! At one point, he technically got all the way over but his arm got stuck so he flipped back onto his back! We were laughing so hard because everytime he would get close we would start screaming GO GO GO! And our hearts were racing so fast! I think it might happen soon...
Darryl has done really well on his sleeping at night so we are starting to back up the latest time that we feed him. Normally, we would do his last feeding of the day at 11 p.m. then we backed it up to 10:30, and now we are doing it at 10. Our goal is to get him to where we feed him his last bottle at 9 p.m. and put him in bed because we think thats what his bedtime will be since Chris and I are out and about so much. He's been sleeping really well except for there have been several nights where he will randomly wake up at 5 a.m., scream, and then go right back to sleep if I put his pacifier back in his mouth. Hopefully its just a phase and will be over soon! But even still, its much better then when we had to feed him at night so we are thankful that those days are hopefully over!

I can't believe that tomorrow (or I guess technically today) is my first Mother's Day! I'm so excited!!!!
